Hedgehog Roof
Hedgehog roofing is the art of building a roof with dry plants such as water cane, sedge (Cladium mariscus), reeds, and lays the vegetation in layers to remove it from the inner roof.
WHY REED REED
Materials such as water straws used in thatch are naturally waterproof. Water cane is hollow, with water being kept out by tightly overlapping cells in the outer layers of the plant. When enough of these plants are brought together, water cannot penetrate the material and we can build a durable and solid roof.
